According to reports from Germany, Bild are linking Liverpool with a €9 million bid for Hamburg’s 18-year-old centre-back Jonathan Tah.
The teenage centre-back is rated as one of the best defenders of the next German generation, however this season the youngster has made just 14 starts for relegation-threatened Hamburg.
Tah’s life at HSV hasn’t always been smooth sailing, with the defender falling into contract disputes with his employers.
Tah signed a lucrative contract extension in November which committed him to the club until 2018, but that deal was challenged by his father and FIFA. Under FIFA rules players under 18 can only sign a deal for a maximum three years.
According to reports, Tah signed a deal that has a release clause set at £20.7 million. Moreover, should the deal to Liverpool materialise, 10% of the transfer fee is said to go to Tah himself and his agent.
