French defender Mamadou Sakho was back in the Liverpool team on Sunday in the away match at Crystal Palace.
But should he have been?
Sakho was repeatedly exposed in the opening stages at Selhurst Park, as the Eagles sought to record their first league win of 2016.
Sakho was compared to a headless chicken by some supporters, as Alan Pardew’s men looked threatening on their home patch.
Was Sakho rushed back to action too quickly by Jurgen Klopp? On his first half showing, it looked that way.
Of course, it’s easy to know why Liverpool fans were sweating during the Palace game.
The Eagles famously claimed a 3-3 draw with the Reds in the 2013-14 season, which was a major blow in Liverpool not winning the title that season.
Since, the Eagles have three of the last four matches against the Scousers, and another win on Sunday at Selhurst Park would hand Alan Pardew’s men their first win in the league in 2016.
Jurgen Klopp’s side, however, arrive in South London full of confident having beaten Aston Villa and Man City 9-0 on aggregate in their last two league games. Yet, they haven’t won at Palace since 1997.
