No wonder Jurgen Klopp is beginning to look a little tired!
Liverpool’s current fixture list is starting to look a bit barbaric and it is no wonder that Klopp made 10 changes to his side for the 0-0 draw with West Ham on Saturday.
As has been widely mentioned since the goalless FA Cup fourth round match, the last thing Liverpool needed was an FA Cup replay.
Having progressed in the Europa League – with its mammoth amount of games – and reaching the Capital One Cup final – Liverpool are set to play well over 60 games this season.
And, one Reddit user has calculated just how mammoth Liverpool’s fixture list has been since Boxing Day.
In total, if Liverpool emerge past West Ham in the FA Cup replay on Tuesday week and see off Augsburg over two legs in the Europa League, they will have played 25 matches in 85 days.
This works out as a game every 3.4 days. Nuts!
You wonder how the Premier League will fit in Liverpool’s home game with Everton, which has been moved due to the Capital One Cup final.
And, as can be seen below, Liverpool are at a disadvantage in the Capital One Cup final as they play on the Thursday before the Wembley match.
Three out of Liverpool’s next four matches are away from home, which could be accentuated if they do progress in the FA Cup and don’t get drawn at Anfield.
With Jurgen Klopp looking to bring in his gegenpressing system to Anfield, it looks way too early to start assessing how the new Liverpool boss is doing when you consider this insane fixture pile-up!
