Liverpool boss explains why Sturridge didn’t take a penalty, vice-captain Henderson didn’t want to (Video)

Jurgen Klopp wasn’t in the most jovial of moods at his post-match press conference today, having lost his first Cup final in English football.

The main talking point during his presser was the penalty shootout, and how the 5 takers were chosen (Can, Lucas, Coutinho, Lallana; Milner was number 5).

Liverpool fans were baffled as to why Lucas took a penalty and Sturridge didn’t, but Klopp explained here that Sturridge couldn’t take one as he had cramps.

From the 6:00 mark, you can see Klopp explain how the 5 penalty takers were chosen, which essentially means by implication that Jordan Henderson didn’t want to, leaving Lucas Leiva to take one instead.

Not exactly the most heroic gesture from vice-captain Hendo…
