Recent matches between Hibs and Motherwell have provided plenty of goals – the famous 6-6 draw at Fir Park back in 2010 the stand out occasion – and all hopes will be for another goalfest this weekend between two teams who have each clocked up too many defeats for comfort in recent weeks.
Until the end of September, Motherwell were in pole position in the division, however defeats to Rangers (cup), Celtic and Hearts in their last three outings have derailed the momentum with Stuart McCall’s side. Nevertheless Motherwell retain a group of players who can cause Hibs serious probelms, with the likes of Michael Higdon, Nicky Law, Jamie Murphy, Omar Daley, Chris Humphrey, and Henrik Ojamaa all fit and able.
Moreover, Well will be encouraged by Hibs’ poor away form of late. The Edinburgh outfit have lost six of their last eight road trips in all competitions, including a narrow 3-2 defeat at Ross County last time out.
Looking down the Hibs’ roster 22-year-old right winger David Wotherspoon is an obvious dangerman in the visitors line-up, however the bigger issue for coach Pat Fenlon will be how to plug his leaky defence which has already conceded 15 goals in the league this campaign.
Betting tip: There will be more the 2.5 goals in this game.
