Liverpool spent £10m on highly rated Belgian striker Divock Origi this summer.
Brendan Rodgers immediately loaned him back to Lille for the season but reports have circulated that he would be recalled in January.
With Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert still yet to register a Premier League goal at Liverpool and Daniel Sturridge struggling with injury problems, Origi is seen as a potential answer.
However, Lille boss René Girard was on Belgian radio yesterday praising the 19 year old forward and quashing rumours of a January exit.
Girard said “It’s just a rumour. There is not truth to my knowledge. It was agreed that Divock would stay the year with us. There is no reason he would leave midway through the championship.”
“They have failed to score at Liverpool? Us too. We need him a lot”.
Asked if Balotelli could switch paths with Origi in January, Girard answered “The question was never asked”.
