Manchester United’s February Player of the Month poll says a lot about the club’s current state of affairs, and more pointedly their goalscoring, or lack thereof.
January signing Juan Mata topped the poll to win the award, despite only really shining in fits and starts, having yet to score, and only bagging a handful of assists.
Mata pipped Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic to the award, another two players who hardly set the world alight over the month.
But then again, who else could they have given it to…
Also, the award is voted for by fans around the world, so Mata’s award is probably as much a ‘Welcome Jonny’ as a real recognition of his performances.
