John Terry says England captain Wayne Rooney is ‘still one of the best players in the world’ [Video]

In recent years, Wayne Rooney’s status as one of the world’s best players has come under serious scrutiny. The fact that he’s been given the captain’s armband for club and country only encourages more microscopes to be put on the forward.

But for former international teammate John Terry, there’s no doubting his prowess as a leader. He also thinks that Rooney is still one of the world’s best players.

Analysing England’s win over Switzerland in the Sky Sports studio, Jamie Carragher asked the Chelsea captain whether or not Rooney was a suitable choice as skipper. Terry said: “I think he was and for me he’s still one of the best players in the world. The right choice for captain. He’s a leader in the dressing room and on the training ground he sets the example.”
