Joey Barton Tweets a defence of his red card v Nancy just minutes after sending off

Joey Barton was on Twitter less than an hour after his first sending off in France – defending his actions following two bookable offences against Nancy.

It was a disastrous night for Marseille as they lost 1-0 at home to bottom club Nancy, who had claimed just two Ligue 1 wins all season.

The former Manchester City, Newcastle and QPR bad boy was booked in the 56th minute and then in the 61st minute as he received his first marching orders ever in France.

Barton then retweeted the video below to back up his argument.

Gervinho, on his way back from the Africa Cup of Nations, probably has other things on his mind right now, but the Arsenal forward would be particularly interested in Barton’s assertion that:

“Players who roll around when nobody touches them should be subsequently banned. I hate cheats. Authorities should address it.”

The Joey Barton post sending off Tweets are below. Followed by video of the two bookings and then a clip of how he got Gervinho sent off in August 2011.
