Most of the news surrounding Tottenham at the moment centres around who will become their new coach, as successor to Tim Sherwood.
The smart money would appear to be on Mauricio Pochettino, who reportedly leads a three-man shortlist that includes Frank De Boer and Rafa Benitez.
Spurs fans used to losing their best players will also be hoping the north London giants can keep Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen, probably the two most likely stars to depart.
Matt Law in the Daily Telegraph today had an interesting tidbit about Vertonghen at the end of his piece about Pochettino and Spurs:
“Jan Vertonghen is prepared to wait to see who the next Spurs coach is before the defender decides whether or not he wants to leave White Hart Lane.
The Belgian would have looked to quit Tottenham if Sherwood had stayed in charge.”
Presumably, Vertonghen is waiting on whether Frank De Boer is appointed who he worked with at Ajax.
Much will also depend on the World Cup, with Belgium tipped to impress and after a poor season, after a terrific debut campaign, many Spurs fans may not be too distressed to see Vertonghen leave White Hart Lane…
