It was a magical day for Jack Lester on Saturday as he made his final appearance for Chesterfield and scored two goals in a 4-0 rout of Exeter.
Both clubs were mid table for the final League Two match of the campaign so it was left to the home support at Proact Stadium to pay homage to Lester who has been a stalwart for the club.
Lester is a fans favourite at Chesterfield for a number of reasons, not least because he took a step down a division to join the club and took a wage cut during his 6-year spell with the club.
The 37-year-old retired after the match and addressed the crowd at half-time: “Thank you. You’ve been magic and I’ll see you soon!”
Just after the half hour, Lester took a beautiful Panenka penalty to make it 3-0 (see video) and also added a fourth in the second half.
