Oh dear. ITV have for many years struggled to keep up with the football coverage provided by Sky and the BBC. Last night they may have produced the worst cock-up in English football history.
The broadcaster cut away from their coverage of extra-time of the Everton-Liverpool clash and missed Dan Gosling’s late late winner. ITV returned to the game with the Everton players celebrating.
The Sun scooped the best headline with “Goal! But fans see sweet FA” and following the game ITV presenter Steve Rider was forced to apologise for the almighty screw-up: “The goal came at the worst possible time for us as we were having some technical problems.”
