Juventus legend Antonio Conte has been at the Tottenham training ground this week, and the Italian Football Federation have reported some quite flattering quotes from the current Italy coach, regarding Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino.
Conte came to visit one of the “in vogue” teams right now, with Spurs in the Capital One Cup final and fighting for a place in the Champions League spots at the end of the campaign.
The Azzurri manager is expected to visit other Premier League teams but according to the report above wanted to meet Pochettino after his success this season in bringing young players through the ranks, such as Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason.
Conte said: “I’m here to see how the English teams work especially those in London. I will meet with the coaches who are doing well to understand the reasons for the good results they are achieving.”
The former Juventus boss was impressed with Tottenham’s training ground: “I’m really impressed. It’s a great place to work and to allow players to increase their potential/ Only by training in the best facilities can a team have ambitions of success. The only message I can give to the players is that they have to work every single day.”
Conte also gave his thoughts on the upcoming two-legged Europa League tie between Spurs and Fiorentina: “It’s a match between two teams that are doing very well and playing good football. It will be a good challenge.”
Tottenham have a busy 10 days coming up from this Thursday, playing Fiorentina home and away with West Ham heading to White Hart Lane next Sunday before a trip to Wembley to face Chelsea at the end of this run.
