Individual highlights: Antonio Valencia’s lung bursting display (Man United 3 – Bolton 0)

“I think he ate a motor. He was unbelievable. I don’t know the left-back of Bolton [Sam Ricketts], but I’m sure he had muscle problems after the game. Antonio’s so powerful. It’s just great to see Antonio back [on the wing] and in great form.” – Patrice Evra.

Paul Scholes scoring for Manchester United again wasn’t the only blast from the past at Old Trafford on Saturday as Antonio Valencia played right wing after spending much of the 2011/2012 campaign at right back.

Valencia was hugely impressive, putting in a lung bursting display that featured 12 crosses, five chances created and 42 completed passes from 46 attempted.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson may have had to beef up the centre of his midfield with Scholes but on the wings he still has plenty of riches with the likes of Nani and the currently injured Ashley Young.
