Holland (& Manchester United) manager Louis van Gaal names final 23-man World Cup squad

There were very few surprises in Louis van Gaal’s final Oranje squad announced this afternoon.

With Rafael van der Vaart forced out through injury, the Iron Tulip had 6 names to cut from his final World Cup squad, and the fall guys are: Karim Rekik, Jean Paul Boetius, Tonny Vilhena, and Quincy Promes, PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet, and Chelsea left back Patrick van Aanholt.

Keepers: Jasper Cillessen (Ajax), Tim Krul (Newcaste United) y Michel Vorm (Swansea City).

Defenders: Daley Blind (Ajax), Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord), Terrence Kongolo (Feyenoord), Bruno Martins Indi (Feyenoord), Joël Veltman (Ajax), Paul Verhaegh (FC Augsburg), Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa/ING) y Stefan De Vrij (Feyenoord).

Midfielders: Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Leroy Fer (Norwich City, Jonathan De Guzman (Swansea City), Nigel de Jong (AC Milan), Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray), Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV).
