Everyday, it seems, we bring you more footage of football violence, and today is no exception.
Croatia’s top-flight saw Hajduk Split travel to Varteks Varazdin on Sunday, with third-placed Hajduk running out 2-nil winners on the night. However the scoreline was put on the backburner of the talking points after the game, as at the start of injury-time at the end of the 90 minutes the visitor’s Jurica Buljat (pictured) appeared to totally lose his head, socking an opponent full in the face and leaving his victim rolling around on the floor, while Varteks were preparing to swing in a free-kick.
However the controversy failed to stop there.
While cameras clearly showed how the referee was blindsided at the time of the assault, pictures show how the referee’s assistant had a clear view of the incident as it unfolded. Yet from the visuals we can bring you, it appears that the linesman failed to address the referee with a report of what happened, leaving the ref to reach his own conclusions that saw the attacker Buljat receiving only a yellow card for his violent outburst.
Jurica Buljat’s vicious assault can be seen here.
