Goran Ivanisevic finally goes to see his beloved West Brom live

By Benjamin Newman

The world is full of strange celebrity-Premier League pairings.

Tom Hanks is a Villa fan. Barack Obama supports West Ham. And this week we learnt that Croatian tennis legend Goran Ivanisevic is a big Baggies lover.

According to the folklore, Ivanisevic became a Baggies fan back in 2005 due to his friendship with Black Country-born tennis journalist David Law, a lifelong West Brom supporter who commentates for the BBC and works as communications director for the ATP Champions Tour.

Yet regardless of how the union came about, last weekend was the first time that Goran finally got the chance to see his footballing beloved in the flesh.

Arriving at Loftus Road less than 35 minutes after stepping off court at the Royal Albert Hall, Ivanisevic was a keen spectator as WBA drew 1-1 away at QPR last Saturday. Happily he documented his first Premier League outing.
