Following another dismal weekend in which Man United were beaten 1-0 at home by Southampton, the big story of the day in most of the papers is that LVG’s future is once again hanging by a thread at Old Trafford.
LVG’s situation breaks down into two main strands: on the one hand the Dutch boss is thought to be ready to quit United having failed to achieve his goals, while on the other hand it’s claimed that chief executive Ed Woodward canvassed several players, who gave the Dutchman a vote of no confidence.
Along with the stories are a couple of eye-catching pictures sourced from social media.
On Sunday, Twitter user

The United boss was snapped carrying a suitcase under a luminous sign for departures, as well as being pictured next to a sign for taxis.
The symbolism was perfect.
According to the Independent, rather than jumping ship, Van Gaal was heading to Holland to celebrate his daughter’s birthday.
