Gary Neville Tweets excellent defence of Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil is the man the tabloids are blaming this morning after Arsenal’s Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich over two legs.

Arsenal’s record signing picked up a hamstring injury and only played the first half yet is seen as the scapegoat for the loss against Bayern in the first Champions League knockout rounds.

The fact Ozil came to Arsenal with such fanfare has not helped and there are plenty of Gooners that will agree with the withering assessment provided by the likes of Neil Ashton in the Daily Mail this morning.

Yet, Gary Neville was up bright and early on Wednesday and described a wealth of reasons why Ozil has struggled in 2013/2014.

Only last Saturday we were told that Ozil was back in form, having played a key role in breaking down Everton in the FA Cup.

And, questions should also be placed on the shoulders of Olivier Giroud, does Ozil need a different sort of striker to play off?

One like Theo Walcott perhaps?
