For the first time ever, the Match of the Day running order was announced by a Facebook video.

Long-term presenter Gary Lineker took to Facebook video and before Tweeting the running order, announced to fans of the Saturday night football show who would be on first.

Predictably, after Chelsea lost at West Ham, with Jose Mourinho sent off, the first game tonight will be the Blues’ defeat at Upton Park.

Despite this being a heavily promoted video, long before today’s games even kicked off, some fans were unhappy that the former England striker gave some of the results away.

After all, there are many loyal viewers who watch Match of the Day without knowing the scores.

And, on the BBC News before Match of the Day is aired, viewers are told to “look away now” if you don’t want to know the scores.

The first comment on the video below is: “Thanks Gary, I have avoided the results all day so that I could watch Match of the Day properly and you just ruined it!”

The third comment is: “I wanted too know the running order, not the scores.”
