Franck Ribery swapped his mascot at a charity game because the kid was too tall

10 days ago, Mark van Bommel pulled the curtain down on his career with a testimonial match between PSV Eindhoven and a team of his best football friends.

Included in the group of van Bommel’s friends was French international Franck Ribery, and now new eye witness footage has captured a comical moment involving the Bayern Munich forward as the team’s prepared to come out the tunnel.

Seconds before coming out on the pitch, Ribery (5 ft 7 in) noticed that his young mascot was almost as tall as him.

Worried that he’d look stupid next to be tall kid, the Bayern star quickly negotiated to trade his mascot with another small child.

Noticeably, Munich teammate Thomas Muller, who was stood alongside Ribery, found the whole incident rather amusing.
