Manchester United have signed Dante from Bayern Munich, maybe [Fox Sports Brasil]

Manchester United have signed Dante according to Fox Sports Brasil.

Gustavo Villani, a journalist for the company, was first to break the news on his twitter feed, and minutes afterwards the huge Latin American sports network reproduced the story on their own channel.

Should the rumours prove true – and there are plenty who doubt they won’t – Manchester United will be acquiring a Brazilian international centre-half who won the treble with Bayern Munich last season.

Dante, 30, is a top draw defender who would certainly help plug the heart of United defence which has looked so brittle in recent weeks, particularly in the 3-1 defeat at Chelsea.

At the time of writing the following is supposedly known about the deal: Dante will arrive at Old Trafford before the January transfer window closes, however the transfer fee and nature of the deal remain unknown.

Yet no sooner were the Fox Sports Brasil reports circulated, counter claims that the deal is bogus quickly began to spread. The Dante story broke at the same time the player was being interview on live air, and the Bayern player backtracked on suggestions that the deal is done.

Below are video highlights of Dante last season, together with tweets on the breaking story at Manchester United.
