Footbrawl: Friendly between Philadelphia Union & Belen called off due to mass brawl

Another one for the collection of unfriendly friendlies.

Ahead of the 2012 MLS season, Philadelphia Union are currently touring Costa Rica to tune up for the new campaign.

With the Union 2-0 down, a couple of nasty challenges came in from both sides which resulted in almost all the players steaming in for a mass brawl. As a result the “friendly” was called off midway through the first half.

The Belen website has accused Philadelphia Union of “anti-football” and midfielder Jose Luis Lopez said that the MLS side were “dedicated to kicking and elbowing.”

Video of the Philadelphia Union-Belen brawl is here.
