Football violence: Partizan fans riot on the streets of Novi Sad

The Serbian Super Liga has now broken for the winter break, and the police will be happy for the respite after yet more football related violence broke out among fans in Serbia’s northern city Novi Sad ahead of Partizan Belgrade’s match against title rivals Vojvodina.

According to local media reports, riot police arrested around a dozen supporters in the city, as locals were left scarred with the hallmarks of hooliganism, surrounded by shattered glass and the stench of tear-gas.

The game ended in a goalless stalemate, leaving Partizan at the top of the table, three points ahead of Vojvodina and Red Star Belgrade.
