Within hours of putting pen to paper Fernando Torres gave an exclusive interview to Chelsea TV. Looking a little tired and perhaps somewhat wary, among the highlights was the following comment:
“The target for every footballer is to try and play at one of the top-level clubs in the world, and I can do it now. I have to be very, very happy as I am. The last three or four days have been very hard for me, especially after everything I have lived in Liverpool.”
Of course, Torres’ departure meant the arrival at Liverpool of both Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll to lead the line for the Merseyside giants.
The Uruguayan striker gave his thoughts to LFC TV just moments after putting pen to paper, the video with English voice over is here.
Suarez said: “My aim is to work, to show the fans how hard I am ready to work. I want to put in lots of effort, to show people my capabilities. First of all I want to try to play as many games as possible and help move us up the table.” Footage of Suarez’s medical is here.
And whilst the Liverpool fans were burning Fernando Torres shirts, Andy Carroll arrived on Merseyside to cheers from the awaiting fans. Footage of Andy Carroll’s medical is here.
