As Jimmy Savile has been a regular presence on the front pages in the UK over the past few months, we have subsequently seen plenty of songs at some of the biggest football matches about the former BBC presenter and now known sexual predator.
In October, Leeds fans sang songs at Sheffield Wednesday glorifying Savile just after the many revelations began to pour out.
And when Arsenal played at Manchester United in November, Robin van Persie was derided as a Dutch Jimmy Savile by supporters who not so long ago worshipped the serial goal scorer.
On Wednesday night it was the turn of Chelsea fans to serenade their Leeds counterparts during their 5-1 rout at Elland Road in the Capital One Cup.
The atmosphere was red hot in Leeds, on a rainy wintry night that had all the hallmarks of an exciting cup tie between two sides that have a long history of animosity.
On the video below you truly get a feel for what it was like to be a Chelsea fan in Leeds, from the train on the way to the game, the heavy police presence and then the sodden conditions outside and inside Elland Road.
Just after the 30-second mark on the video, we see Chelsea fans chanting: “He’s one of your own, He’s one of your own, Jimmy Savile, He’s one of your own!”
This could be heard loud and clear on Sky Sports during the game but was not remarked upon by the commentators.
