Too expensive for Arsenal, Man United plot mega bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang [Mail]

How many times is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang going to be linked with the Premier League?

This Sunday, the Borussia Dortmund striker has been linked to Liverpool in the Sun, while over the Mail it’s Arsenal and Man United who are circling the 26-year-old forward.

At this point it’s wise to remember what Aubameyang has himself indicated as his future career plans.

Under contract at Dortmund until 2020, from the outset it seems tough for any suitor to sign Aubameyang from his current career with Borussia.

Moreover, were Aubameyang to leave the Bundesliga, Spain would seem to be his destination. He has previously told L’Equipe:

My childhood dream was to play for Real Madrid. I promised my grandfather, who was from Avila some 110 kilometers away from Madrid, that I would play there. I realize that it will not be easy, but is always in the back of my mind.

I watched a lot of Hugo Sanchez videos when I was still a child. The somersault I sometimes do to celebrate a goal is a homage to him. Playing for Real Madrid, or even another big Spanish club, would also be a great gift for my mother.

Nevertheless, the Mail today report that Arsenal are unable to bid for Aubameyang as his current 70 million pound transfer fee is just too rich for them. Man United, however, are not put off by the price tag.

The Mail tell their readers:

Even though the Gabon international, who was born in France, is under contract to Dortmund until 2020, it is understood he is keen on a potential move to United and a bid is expected at the end of the season.
