Gervinho’s summer parting from Arsenal  to Roma has worked out well for all three parties, but one can’t help but wonder how good Gervinho could have been this season for the Gunners with an arm around the shoulder.

The Ivorian has got his mojo back  (after an initial horror start to life in Serie A with a lot of missed sitters) and is scoring big goals for Roma, as tonight’s Coppa Italia clash against Juve showed.

Gervinho popped up with a winner Zlatan would have been proud of, moving brilliantly in the box to make space for himself, before acrobatically latching onto the cross and finishing with a slick volley.

With Arsenal now in need of a back-up striker, maybe they had one all along in Gervinho…

It’s still only 5 goals in all competitions, but bearing in mind he’s coming back from the brink, his stats are sure to improve as does his confidence.
