Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela has rubbished reports linking him with a move away from White Hart Lane as the player is now finally loving life in North London.
The Argentinian international joined the North London side from Roma in 2013, but the 23-year-old struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League during his last two season’s in England.
During the summer transfer window the midfielder was heavily linked with a move away from Spurs, and a deadline day move to Ligue 1 side Marseille was blocked at the last minute by Tottenham boss Maurcio Pochettino.
The Argentine coach’s decision to pull the plug on the transfer appears to have paid dividends, and the 23-year-old is now starting to produce the sort of form, which led to Spurs’ interest in the first place.
Lamela helped Tottenham finish top of their group in the Europa League with a hat-trick against Monaco on Thursday and the 23-year-old revealed he is happy with life in north London.
“It seems that every summer I have been here there have been suggestions I might be leaving. I don’t know why that came about but no way was I leaving,” Lamela said, via the Mirror.
“It has never been my intention to do that.”
