35 year old French defender Aric Abidal is expected to announce his retirement from professional football in a press conference on Friday.
The former Barcelona and Monaco star had to undergo a liver transplant during his time in Spain after he was diagnosed with a tumour in his liver.
Having signed for Greek giant Olympiakos this summer, Eric Abidal last night seemingly played his last game in a 2-0 win over Panionios.
Capped 67 times by France, Abidal played 90 minutes as Fulham flop Kostas Mitroglou scored both goals in the 2-0 win.
It has been reported in numerous Spanish and Catalan newspapers that Abidal will take on a coaching role at Barcelona’s famous academy – La Masia.
