Emile Heskey pulls a wobbly during Newcastle Jets defeat to Western Sydney Wanderers

Newcastle Jets woeful recent form continued on Friday as they were soundly beaten 3-0 by A-League leaders Western Sydney Wanderers at home.

(This result meant Western Sydney Wanderers finished the Hyundai A-League top of the table, in their first season of existence.)

It was all over by the 33rd minute after a brace from Mark Bridge ensuring the side from Sydney were all but out of sight with a third of the game played.

After an emphatic start to life in Australia, Emile Heskey has struggled of late, scoring just twice in 10 games.

On 36, Heskey took out his frustrations after he was penalised for a good old fashioned English striker’s challenge on keeper Ante Covic.

The former Leicester, Liverpool and England striker then gave the referee “a fearful spray” before continuing the argument with Covic.

Commentators on Australian TV said they had never seen Heskey so fired up and introduced us to his rarely used nickname: “The Big Friendly Giant.”
