Done Deal: Everton confirm the signing of Tom Cleverley from Manchester United

Everton have confirmed the signing of Tom Cleverley from Manchester United on a 5-year deal.

In a smart piece of business by Roberto Martinez, Everton will get Cleverley on a free transfer once his contract expires at United on July 1.

And it’s a positive move for central midfielder Cleverley, whose gone some way to repairing his confidence and reputation during his loan spell at Villa this season.

Cleverley had become something of a figure of fun during his final two years at United, and the trolling even extended nationwide, with an online petition emerging to try and keep him away from the England team.

But having starred in Villa’s brilliant run to the FA Cup Final, the image of Cleverley the Loser is lone gone, and the Bradford lad has proven his critics wrong by earning this big move to Everton.

With Louis van Gaal appearing to have lost interest in bringing Cleverley back to Old Trafford, Everton have swooped in and secured the midfielder on a 5-year deal.
