DFB Pokal: Bayern beat Nurnburg; Freiburg shock Hoffenheim; Oberneuland crushed by Wolfsburg

Borussia Dortmund 2 – Hertha Berlin 1 (AET) (DFB Pokal, September 24, 2008) Alexander Frei, returning from a long term injury, put Dortmund ahead from the penalty spot, however Marko Pantelic ensured extra-time when he netted an equaliser for Hertha. Klimowitz proved the matchwinner when he popped up to score in the 103rd minute and sent the Berlin side crashing out.

Carl Zeiss Jena 1 – FSV Frankfurt 0 (DFB Pokal, September 24, 2008)

Freiburg 3 – Hoffenheim 1 (DFB Pokal, September 24, 2008) High-fliers Hoffenheim came undone at the home of second-tier Freiburg in th biggest shock of the night in Germany, despite Sejad Salihovic putting the Bundesliga outfit in front from the penalty spot early in the game. But Freiburg hit back after the break, Daniel Schwaab finished well from 12 yards, Suat Turker then put the hosts ahead before Mohamadou Idrissou made it 3-1 with a penalty.
