No Nike players included in Manchester United’s Adidas kit launch

Manchester United launched their brand new and highly anticipated Adidas kit today, with several players featuring in the cool and dramatic promo, acting as wild and untamable pitchfork-wielding devils.

The selection of players included appears a little random at first glance: Bastian Schweinsteiger, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, Phil Jones (yes, Phil Jones), Ashley Young, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata – with club captain Wayne Rooney and star keeper David De Gea conspicuously absent.

But there is a logical explanation for the absence of that duo: only Adidas-sponsored players were allowed participate, meaning Nike-sponsored De Gea and Rooney weren’t invited to the party.

All the featured players have tweeted pictures of themselves in the new Adidas kit, while the likes of Rooney have remained silent.

Could this Nike-Adidas clash create a conflict of interests?
