In another transfer story that’s bound to have fans talking about the cash-rich Premier League, Crystal Palace are reportedly considering meeting the €30 million buy-out clause of Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani.
Portuguese outlet A Bola report that the league leaders may be forced to sell their star striker after previously rejecting a bid of £15 million from the ambitious Eagles.
The Algerian international has been in superb form this season under new boss Jorge Jesus, scoring 12 goals in 15 league appearances. That’s the same tally he scored in the whole of last season, although injuries played a part.
Short of striking options, Pardew has sent scouts to watch the player on numerous occasions since playing Sporting in a friendly last summer. Palace are also reportedly interested in free agent Emmanuel Adebayor.
However, plenty of fans are dismissing the story as typical transfer rumour nonsense. If Palace end up paying the aforementioned big money fee for the pacy attacker it would smash their previous record (Cabaye, £10m).
