Croatia’s Darijo Srna now officially the player to hit the fastest speed at the World Cup!

One of the big talking points during this World Cup has been the Top Speed measurements by FIFA.

Initially, it was claimed Arjen Robben had hit a whopping top speed for that run against Sergio Ramos in Holland’s win over Spain, but this has now been debunked.

See: New data shows that Arsenal’s Theo Walcott is still the world’s fastest player as Arjen Robben ‘only’ ran at 31km/h.

New data has since emerged from Croatia’s 4-0 win over Cameroon on Wednesday that proves Croatia full back Darijo Srna is now officially the player to hit the top speed at the World Cup so far.

Srna recorded a top speed of 32.98, according to FIFA statistics released in the aftermath of Croatia’s 4-0 victory.

A vastly talented right back, not many would have Srna down as the player to hit the top speed this World Cup, especially at the age of 32!

Well done Darijo Srna! His surname in Croatian, means “Deer” – which is pretty apt! (Via Reddit Soccer.)
