It was one of those tough away days for Portugal in the torrential Belfast rain last night, and at 2-1 down they looked to be heading for a shock defeat.

But captain Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up to the plate with a burst of goals, scoring a hat-trick in 15 minutes!

His first two were classic Ronaldo header – the second of which came from a perfect Coentrao cross.

The hat-trick goal, which ensured the win, was a low and powerful free-kick, which he may have been trying to sneak under the wall, but it deflected in anyway.

The hat-trick takes him to 43 goals, and Cristiano is now a mere four goals off Pauleta’s international record of 47.
