They’ve spent hundreds of millions of pounds, they have some of the best players in the Premier League, however Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season isn’t even a squad member.
The Pensioners returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa, and Diego Costa was the headline maker for the Blues.
The Spanish centre-forward broke the deadlock, while Costa saw a second half shot deflect off of Alan Hutton for Chelsea’s second of the game.
The Hutton deflection chalked up an interesting stat: Chelsea’s top goalscorer this season is own goals (3).
Behind own goals, Chelsea’s Diego Costa and Willian both have two strikes apiece.
The stat is endemic of Chelsea’s struggles at the start of the season, as the reigning champs have fallen way off the pace.
Jose Mourinho’s side are now trying to climb up the table to end the season in the top four, after they begun the campaign with a string of defeats and terrible performances.
