Chelsea completed the signing of Michael Hector from Reading on a five-year deal before loaning him back to the Championship club immediately.
A Jamaican international, Chelsea fans could be forgiven for not knowing much about Hector given that the club’s interest in him only became apparent today.

Having graduated from the Reading youth academy after a stint at Millwall, the defender eventually made his debut for the club following a series of loans at the age of 21.
He quickly became an important member of the first team and made 49 appearances in all competitions for Reading last season, including the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Arsenal.
A hulking centre-half, Hector is surprisingly quick for his 6’4 build and could be compared to Manchester United counterpart Chris Smalling.
Jose Mourinho will be pleased to add the 23-year-old to his ranks but this addition isn’t quite at the same level as other targets John Stones and Marquinhos.
