Chelsea have reached Baba Rahman from Wolfsburg, according to German paper Bild today.
The Blues have been in the market for a new left-full back following Filipe Luis’ return to Atletico Madrid, with just Cescar Azpilicueta remaining in the position.
Mourinho had admitted yesterday that the search was ongoing, but he was clearly being coy, as Bild claim that a deal is now in place, with a 25m euro fee agreed between the clubs for the Ghanaian international.
Bild add that PSG and Juventus have also been chasing Baba, but that Chelsea essentially have the deal sewn up now.
Augsburg are the real winners here: having signed Baba from Greuther Furth for just 2.5m euros last summer, they’ve made a mammoth profit on the defender.
Baba will come in nominally as back-up for Azpilicueta, but having invested such a sum for the Ghanaian, they surely won’t be content with leaving him on the bench either.
