Time is running out in the January transfer window, but according to reports in the English press on Monday, Chelsea are still on course to sign a striker this winter.
After weeks, if not months of being linked to Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato, both the Times and the Daily Mail today confirm that the Blues are edging nearing to their target.
Following Sunday’s 1-0 win at Arsenal, where Diego Costa needed to come off in the second half, Chelsea’s lack of options in attack was once against exposed with Loic Remy the only real plan B at present.
The update in the Times was short and sweet, if not a little low on details.
Chelsea have moved close to a deal to sign Alexandre Pato. The struggling Barclays Premier League champions want to take the Brazil striker on loan from Corinthians, with a view to making the deal permanent next season.
Signing from the same hymn sheet, the Mail have produced a very similar update in their Monday edition, noting:
Chelsea were finalising a deal for 26-year-old Brazil forward Alexandre Pato on Sunday night.
For what it’s worth, Brazilian website UOL Esporte also carry the Pato to Chelsea story their website, however they quote the English press as their source of information.
