Burnley striker Danny Ings has taken to Twitter in order to express his delight at being close to sealing a much anticipated move to Liverpool.
The 22 year old who scored 11 goals in his debut season in the Premier League looks set to complete a move to Merseyside in the coming days.
The England Under-21 international’s current deal with Burnley expires on June 30 but the recently-relegated club will be entitled to compensation because of the player’s age.
It is understood Liverpool remain hopeful they can come to a satisfactory arrangement with Burnley without the need for the player’s valuation to be decided by a tribunal despite their initial offer being turned down.
Plenty of clubs showed an interest in the young striker, with Real Sociedad and Tottenham Hotspurs being heavily linked to the player.
Danny Ings looks set to become Liverpool’s second signing of the summer after Manchester City midfielder James Milner last week agreed to join on a free transfer when his contract at the Etihad Stadium expires.
Thanks for your messages. Delighted to be joining #LFC. A special club with great players. I will give everything to be successful. ⚽️❤️
