Brendan Rodgers: ‘No rift with England boss Roy Hodgson over Daniel Sturridge’ [Video]

There’s been a bit of toing and froing between the England and Liverpool camps over what to do with Daniel Sturridge for the upcoming European Qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia.

Hodgson naturally wanted to call Sturridge up if he felt he was fully recovered from injury, but Brendan Rodgers has put his foot down and said it will be too soon, and too much of a risk for Sturridge.

That led to the feeling that there’d been a bit of a rift between the respective managers, but Rodgers denied this was the case at his press conference today, and cleared the situation up, adding:

‘I can’t even think about England when he’s not ready for Liverpool yet.’
