Speaking at his press conference yesterday, Brendan Rodgers was adamant that Raheem Sterling won’t be leaving Liverpool this summer.
Amid much speculation that Arsenal or even Chelsea could swoop in for the 20-year old, Rodgers has pleaded for calm, and says the whole thing of Sterling stalling his contract talks has been blown out of proportion.
Sterling gave a 27 minute interview with BBC Sport during the week, which wasn’t authorized by Liverpool, and Rodgers admitted he was surprised by that.
Indeed, Rodgers even intimated that Sterling had been mistaken by going behind the club’s back and doing the interview, saying:
‘It surprised us all, but listen – he’s a young player who’s still learning, and sometimes you’ll make mistakes as a youngster.’
