Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has come out with a surprising admission in Brisbane, as the Merseyside giants continue their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia.
Brisbane Roar host Liverpool on Friday, but unsurprisingly Rodgers was asked about Raheem Sterling’s 49 million pound departure to Manchester City.
On the video below, Rodgers says: “I was probably one of a number of reasons why he was supposedly wanting to go, but it’s done with now.”
There were many suggestions during Sterling’s push to leave Liverpool that the England winger did not see eye to eye with Brendan Rodgers.
How this admission will play out for Liverpool in the coming weeks is anyone’s guess. But, after spending plenty of cash, and with Christian Benteke on the way, Rodgers needs a positive start to 2015/2016.
