Over the weekend The Sun reported Manchester United’s interest in Barcelona superstar Neymar Jr.
Nobody took the tabloid reports too seriously until The Guardian on Sunday lunchtime claimed that the Brazilian forward had told Manchester United that he’s open to joining them.
Usually reliable, The Guardian report that Neymar is interested in moving to Old Trafford due to the size and the history of the club, as well as the chance to play in the Premier League.
The surprising story suggests that Neymar is willing to leave the best club in the world, despite winning a historic treble in his second season last year.
Apparently Ed Woodward did not travel to Barcelona to negotiate for Pedro. The Guardian report that Woodward was in Barcelona to try to land Neymar.
You’d expect any kind of deal would be a world record fee but it still seems massively unlikely that the 23-year-old would up and leave for a team that finished 4th in the Premier League.
Neymar is currently sidelined with mumps and is set to miss Barcelona’s La Liga opener against Athletic Bilbao tonight.
