An important football competition is set to get underway in Miami this week featuring some of the stars of tomorrow.
The premiere youth club tournament in the world, the La Liga Promises, is set to get underway in Miami.
The tournament pulls together the top 17 international youth teams from Europe, Asia and America , and this is the first time the competition has been held in the United States.
Over the weekend the young boys have been preparing for the competition, and at their opening event Real Madrid legend Raul was in attendance.
In a remarkable story, AS are now reporting that Barcelona stopped their under-12s from having a photo with Raul at the event.
The understanding is that the decision was based on tribal, football lines. (See a picture of Raul with the lads from Atletico Madrid below.)
As reported by AS, when Raul “suggested a group photo, a Barcelona representative stepped in, saying the youngsters were tired.”
The incident was also reported by Cadena SER journalist Ramon de la Morena on Twitter, who wrote: “Raul greeted all the players from all the teams in Miami, but Barcelona didn’t let their kids have their photo taken with him.”
