Brendan Rodgers has made a big call in his starting line up to face West Brom today, bringing in Rickie Lambert to replace the out-of-sorts Mario Balotelli.
Rodgers can dress it up any way he likes, by saying he’s resting him due to the accumulation of games, but at the end of the day there’s no denying he’s dropped his 16 million pound striker.
There are no luxury games for Liverpool with the poor form they’re in, so it’s hard to make the case for resting; while 34 year old Steven Gerrard has played just as many games, and you don’t see him being rested.
The truth is, with just 1 goal so far for Liverpool, and just that 1 goal from 63 shots, Rodgers now looks like he has serious doubts about Mario.
