Arsenal progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Tuesday night at Hull where they will host Watford at The Emirates on Sunday in what should be a fine match-up between two Premier League sides.
Despite Arsenal chasing their third successive FA Cup trophy, Gooners are not happy with that “Thanks for the memories” banner appearing at Hull after the 4-0 win.
Watford meanwhile could well be primed to give Arsenal a very tough game having had a full week’s rest and with no game until next Saturday.
Quique Sanches Flores’ side have progressed to the FA Cup quarter-finals on the back of three 1-0 victories and will be keen to keep things quiet, as they have somewhat struggled to do in recent Premier League matches.
Watford have been beaten 1-0 twice, by Manchester United and Leicester, in their last few games and over the past couple of months their league form has seriously tailed off.
The Hornets are still super unlikely to be dragged into the relegation battle, with 37 points to their name already, but will likely play their strongest side at The Emirates on Sunday.
Arsenal meanwhile have a number of key injuries to first team players, such as Petr Cech and Aaron Ramsey and face Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League tie on Wednesday.
Whether the Gunners play their big guns is somewhat of a mystery. Both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez missed the win over Hull and even if they don’t play at Barcelona, with the tie all but won by the Catalans, there is now a huge Premier League match at Everton to contend with next Saturday.
We suspect, Arsenal will put out a similar side to the one that beat Hull. But, that Ozil and Sanchez will start and come off early if the game is won.
Watford will play their strongest side as they both chase a semi-final spot at Wembley. A number of their injury doubts (Cathcart & Jurado) appear to be part of the squad, according to Mario Suarez on Instagram.
