Arsenal “unlikely to sign striker” [David Ornstein, BBC]

This is not the news Arsenal fans wanted to hear!

Even before it was reported that Olivier Giroud would be out until 2015, Gooners were calling for Arsene Wenger to bring in a world class striker.

The likes of Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Loic Remy and Danny Welbeck have all been linked with a move to Arsenal and you suspect all four would improve the attacking options at the Emirates.

But, the super reliable BBC journalist David Ornstein has played down these suggestions.

According to Ornstein, Arsenal will not move for a striker and will utilise their current squad options which is good news for Yaya Sanogo, Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski.

Meanwhile, a move for Sami Khedira or William Carvalho also seems unlikely with Ornstein suggesting that a player who can cover in defence and midfield will be the likely option for Wenger.
